My thanks to my Holland "cousin" Leigh Blount of Virginia for helping me
connect with the Holland Family and for providing this information:

Sally's father Stephen was born in Cumberland Co., VA c. 1762 and married Judith c. 1784.  He moved to Bedford Co., VA between 1784 and 1790 and was recorded there until 1831.

Stephen was the son of Charles Holland, b. Caroline Co., VA (don't know date) and M. Anne (don't know her surname) - he died in Cumberland Co., VA Sep 1767. On 28 Sep 1767 Charles' widow Anne relinquished her right of administration in Charles' estate to John Scott (Cumberland Co., VA, Court Orders, Bk. 1767-1770, p. 30).  I have 8 children listed for Charles and Anne, but I think that there may have been 11.  I'm still trying to find out about another couple of Hollands that probably were their children.

Charles was the son of Peter Holland, b. Cheshire, England about 1678, m. Susannah Tarrant (widow of a Mr. Reynolds) c. 1725; died Caroline Co., VA 1749.  Peter is yours and my common ancestor - I descend from his son Peter M. Holland, brother to your Charles.  Peter came from England to Essex Co., VA, indentured in 1699.  He agreed with William Neilson of Edinburg, a merchant, that from the time of his arrival in Virginia or Maryland to serve 6 years in consideration of which William Neilson agreed to pay for his passage and allow him meat and drink and apparel, etc.  This agreement was adjudged in Essex Co. 10 June 1699.  Peter moved to Caroline Co. in 1714.

I'm still working on Peter's ancestors, but it looks like he may have been the son of William and Mary Holland.  Some researchers feel like he is the son of a Michael Holland - maybe one day we will sort it out.
