The ROWBERRY alias GOMERY Family of Woolhope
This tree
shows the origin of my John ROBERY who was baptised as GOMBERRY at Woolhope and married as GUMBRY at Holmer.
After his first child's baptism, which appears as ROBERY in the parish register of
Kingstone and as GOMERY in the annual Bishop's Transcript of that same register, the name
appears only in the R form. The rest of the family however, after two centuries of
using both the R and the G forms either together or interchangeably, seem to
have all become Gs. Today I have relatives called GOMERY, GUMMERY and a few GUMERYs too!
